Greg's Vampire Counts (Update - Vargheist)

posted Nov 06, 2011 20:54:34 by Greg2thePerson
*I've decided simply to turn this thread into a painting log for all of my Vampire Counts. Hopefully this well help keep my focused on finishing all of my models!*

I have a scratch built Black Coach that I've been using for my Vampire Counts. I recently got my hands on the new Tomb Banshee model and decided to incorporate it into my Black Coach. The idea is that the body of the Vampire is being preserved underneath the staircase and her soul is flying upwards (due to the Black Coach absorbing so much magical energy). Let me know what you think of the model!

Oh man, I hate that thing with a burning passion. It's so...evil. I dig the banshee model though.

That is a cool idea for a black coach!

Next up is the Arcane Fulcrum which I was working on in Episode 8. I finally finished it up the other day. I'm going to have to find a spot on my display board for this piece. I think it looks suitably spooky! :-)

Nice work on the Arcane Fulcrums. I really need to get mine primed.

Thanks - it was fun to paint! A nice change of pace from infantry.

Next up is the Cursed Company Standard Bearer. I use the Cursed Company as Grave Guard in my army. :-)

I really tried to hone my freehand techniques on this model. Let me know what you think!

Wow, your Black Coach looks awesome. Very cool idea and great execution!
I'm really impressed with your freehands, that's something I haven't tried my hand at (sry bad pun). Any tips you'd care to share?

Episode 10 has a discussion on freehand, so hopefully there will be something useful for you in there!

Next up are some pictures of my Cursed Company models. I've got a decent amount of them painted up and I mix them in with the Grave Guard for some variety. I can't decide which one is my favorite, they're all so "cute"!

I just finished building my Terrorgheist. I need to get this bad dude painted up by January for the Conflict. My head is swimming trying to figure out when/how I will get it done!

Wow that's an awesome pose, certainly the coolest I've seen anywhere so far.
Are you planning on painting the inside of the tower? Hope you made it so you can take the roof off, or at least reach everything in there through the hole.

Did anybody else just hear Marathon Painting Tabled episode? :p
Good luck! ^^

Yeah, I love the way you made him!

Thanks, guys. Unfortunately the roof is glued on. In retrospect it would have been nice to attach it with a series of magnets. That would have made painting and transportation a lot easier... still not sure how to safely transport this guy!

Yeah, it is going to need a custom case just for it:)

Thats a good idea for a pose, I haven't seen one like it. I think the wall on the tower and the wood on the inside need a bit more realistic damage maybe? Maybe cut it so it looks like individual stones/planks have been knocked out.

Some source lighting would be awesome to light up the underneath of the dragon, maybe from a torch or two on the walls? Its not so hard one you try it.

The breenstuff on the bricks is great. I guess the tower must have a good few gaps?

The gaps on the four corners of the building are large enough that you can notice them across the table. It was a pain to cover them all, but I want this model to be the centerpiece of my army, so I had to do it. :-)

I think a light sourcing effect would be awesome. I've never tried it out before, but perhaps it's time to learn... Thanks for the suggestion!
