Martins VC

posted Mar 25, 2012 12:59:26 by martindavidhal1
Hi guys and gals just thought i'd post some pics of my VC i've been working on in the last couple of weeks.
i Bought the army years ago and with commissions and stuff i've only just got round to doing them.
The scheme is pretty basic and will come back at a later date to do another couple of highlights.
So tell me what you think.

The army is looking great, Martin. Thanks for sharing!

I particularly like the skin on the Varghulf. It appears to be glowing. Mind sharing how you painted it?

My only criticism is that the patches of grass look odd because they are all roughly the same shape and size. A little variety would make them appear much more natural.

Cheers Greg
Yeah the bases are rather basic I know I'd normally do more but it's more about getting the army on the table. I have some army painter tufts which I might add once the army is done.

The vargulf skin is basecoated with GW Astro grey.
Then washed with a 1:1 mix of hawk turquoise and the blue GW wash.
Then using the wash mix add Astro grey gradually in layers back up to pure Astro grey and finish with a 1:1 mix of skull white astro grey as a final highlight.

Just looking to get 1000pts done as quickly as possible as a wargaming club has just started in my area.

Just make sure you don't fall into the trap of never applying those highlights after getting them to table top standard to play with! Those ghouls dont want to be straight purple forever, I can tell! How are you planning on highlighting them up from hormogaunt(?) purple?

martindavidhal1 said Mar 25, 2012 21:52:07
I know they don't want to stay like that. I'm going to use a light blue (Gw ice blue) added to liche purple and highlight them that way because I don't want them looking pink or violet the blue keeps them purple (which sounds mad but trust me)
I'll promise I'll go back to them after I've finished my corpse cart

Cheers for the comments guys

That's a very nice VC army, I really like the ghostly blue.

Do you mind posting a picture of that Felix J├Ąger you use as an Avatar? Looks like a great paint job.

Thanks very much Gargo and yes here's the felix.

I did it a couple of years ago and i've never been happy with the base but its ok.

Corpse cart done the (necromancer is detachable so i can use him on foot or on the cart)

i just need to paint some finishing touches to him and his base and i then have 1000pts

It seems I was right, this is a great paintjob. I just hope every guy who outbid me on ebay for these guys gave them an equally awesome treatment. :)
Nice job on the corpse cart too.

Excellent work on the Banshee! Great idea on the basing and the ethereal paint job works well - how did you do it?

Also, did you convert her right hand?
