bret test model

posted Sep 23, 2012 13:26:04 by Waaagh_Cast
I painted a test model to near completion last night. I'm undecided as of yet to freehand the heraldry or get some micro sol and use decals. Still this should give a good representation of what I'm looking at. You an click for a larger picture. Thoughts?

I really like the freehand patterns you did on the model. Some of your lines are quite crooked, but it isn't noticeable unless you zoom in. With more practice, I think that will improve.

Are you planning to do a unified red and blue color scheme, or will each knight be different?

If you can bear the time, I always prefer to see freehand. That's not a criticism on decals at all, they can be great (and a LIFESAVER for large units) but with Brets you have a relatively small unit size and a lot of opportunity to make each knight have his own variation on the crest / coat of arms. More opportunity to be creative! :)

Completed the first unit of 8 Knights of The Realm. Well, I have some other stuff to do still. 2nd flock, clear coat, movement tray, but this is the start. You can click for larger picture.

I love them! The black lining really makes the colors pop. I like the unified theme as well, I've always preferred that to the random assortment of colors.
